Modern, computer-aided, reproducible manufacturing processes enable a more precise assembly of the individual components thus extending their service lives signicantly. Sensors monitor the wear thus contributing to an extended overall service life od HPC-40. For HPC-40, it was possible to extend the breaking load by 30 % and the fatigue strength by 40 %, as we were able to eliminate the risk of fatigue factors. It is possible to reliably remove reject boards without aecting the cycles in the rejects area. Acceptable boards continue to be transported towards the cooling turner. The rejected board stack may optionally be equipped with batch and package forming systems. These are for optimising the cooling turner utilisation and are explained in greater detail in the chapter about the ‘Cooling section’. The rejected board stack is equipped with a variable length adjuster or board lifter for the batch and package forming options. Reject boards are removed by lifting the rst belt conveyor. The rejected board stack may be optionally equipped with a buer for forming the reject stacks or with an additional belt conveyor that transports the rejects to the board breaker.

We have developed the Siempelkamp press extraction systems especially for ContiRoll® presses and adjusted them to the particleboard, MDF and OSB production plants. Being a manufacturer and supplier of ContiRoll® presses, we are able to suit the extraction systems to our presses. We have been able to trace the emission sources thanks to our experience gained from the commissioning of almost 300 ContiRolls® over the past 30 years. Consequently, we have developed special extraction systems, which are generally able to extract the fumes direct. The concept results in a signicantly improved air quality in the vicinity of our presses as well as in the production hall. Moreover, the emission of solids resulting from the technological process have been localised accordingly and are collected by specially developed extraction hoods. This results in an excellent system uptime.

The EcoResinator is particularly suited to full the specic demands that are made on the technology employed for the glue-blending system used to manufacture MDF. Siempelkamp has equipped the EcoResinator with Schlick two-component nozzles. The second component that is used with the glue is steam. The size of the glue droplets is set with the help of the steam pressure and quantity. The corresponding parameters required for achieving the best possible application of glue based on the breboard's density are stored in the program. The optimised gluing methods may either be used to improve strength with the same amounts of wood and glue o and bres while preserving the same strength. The EcoResinator can potentially save up to 15% of glue over classic b recommended for all MDF plants. The EcoResinator also oers benets when existing plants are modied at a later point in time. CMC TEXPAN's load-cell scales can easily be tted into new or existing production lines to ensure consistent PB, MDF or OSB qualities. They can be installed inside metering bins to control the density of the material fed to the mat formers or downstream of mat formers to control the weight of the formed mat. The core of a mat scale is its weighing table, made of aluminium and split into two halves each connected to the relevant load cells by means of weighing levers. Mat scales operate in "load" mode that is to say the heavier the weight on the scale, the higher the load on the cells. The weight detected by the load cells will be displayed on a digital amplier, shielded against high and low frequency noise, which will give an mA-output signal for further processing in a PLC.

Using a ContiTherm preheater upstream of the ContiRoll® press increases the production output of a wood-processing plant signicantly. It is an additional component integrated into the forming line and serves to preheat the mat before it is transferred to the ContiRoll® infeed to just below the temperature at which the glue starts to cure. A steam-air mix is conveyed through the mat. During this process, the steam condenses at the bres or particles, heating them up. The preheating temperature can be set most accurately by varying the steam content of the mix. The machine is separate into two to four sections (seen in working direction). Depending on the application these sections are designed for a unidirectional or a bidrectional steam injection or equipped with hot platens heated by thermal oil. The width of the steam boxes in an MDF-plant can be extended by additional segments to optimise steam-air conveyance.
